Hello, readers!
This week is the final week before Thanksgiving break begins, so I will write about Marketing Management class which I am taking in this semester.
Blog
For one of our class projects, I created this business blog, and it was my first time to have own business blog. There are many rules that I have to care such as colors, typography, pictures, and overall designs so that my blog looks more professional. Ms. Abbi Siler gave us many tips so that I could gain and attract others including name of blog.
I named this website “Keep Calm and Study Business,” quoted from one of my favorite quotes. Also, I put words, “Learn Business Tips and Japanese Culture as subtitles because I would like readers to touch Japanese culture little bit learning business. Also I put a picture of Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan and it has been listed as a World Heritage Site this year. I believe these title and picture made my blog to differentiate to other students’ blogs.
I set keywords that relate to my site: Arkansas State University, Business Major, Marketing, Marketing Management, Social Media, Business Tips, and Career. These keywords get people to find my site when they type these words on search engine.
Through the semester, I posted 12 blog entries and got 7 comments from readers. Honestly, I did not promote my site to my friends, and it was my biggest failure. According to Google Analytic
Facebook page
Another project in this class was to manage ASU College of Business Facebook page through this semester. Our group goal was to increase the number of page likes by 347, making the total number of likes 1,500 by the end of the semester. Our short-term goal is to have the average post reach to be 200 views.
Right after we started this project, we could not gain likes as we expected. We discussed what we need to fix and Ms. Siler gave us some solutions. We changed posting times from three times per day to two or three times per day based on average numbers of access each day. We used the spreadsheet of GoogleDoc so that each member manages the time to post. Also we focused our efforts on choosing articles and events that relate to the College of Business students and professors with appropriate pictures, and it became one of our successes.
I believe “Meet the Stuff”, one of our posting ideas what we did short interview with one another, was a great idea to get people attentions. Each post included names, hometown, major, graduate year, and favorite things about A-State. The posts had big impact on our number of reach. Especially, if a member shared a post that talked about him or her, more his or her friends clicked and liked the post. I believe they become to be interested in our page and more often to visit our page.
Since last week, each member has promoted the College of Business Facebook page on own Facebook account. As the result of my promotion, 20 people of my friends liked our page. Our Facebook page gained 97 likes at the present moment, and 55 of 97 people liked this week. I hope this number would more increase by the end of the semester!!
Overall, I love this class because I learned new things every time I went to the class.
I would like to say thank you to Ms. Siler and Dr. Philhours.
Thank you for your reading!!
